Randy Fairbanks

September 26, 1949 – April 15, 2022

  • Conference Secretary 2017-2022
  • Conference President 2019-2022

Randy was a family man, a devout husband, father of three and grandfather of six.  He was passionate about the outdoors and doing a quality job. His career as a Wildlife Biologist included working for the environmental consulting firm Tetra Tech for over 43 years, starting out as Principal Biologist and rising to the position of Vice President of Forestry and Natural Resources.

Randy joined St. Vincent DePaul in the fall of 2017 as the Conference Secretary. In 2019, Randy accepted the position of President while also maintaining his role as Secretary.   Randy made an immediate impact as an Active Member and an officer. Utilizing his expertise in contract writing, he collaborated on several grant applications to secure needed funds for St. John Conference. His efforts resulted in several grants that totaled over $50,000. These grants funded the Conference’s rental and utility assistance, food pantry program and even a much-needed refrigerator for the food pantry.  With the help of many in the Parish, he started the Giving Tree at St. John’s to make sure all families in need had gifts for Christmas.

Randy enjoyed the person-to-person service that is a hallmark of the Society: working in the Food Pantry, planning and facilitating food runs, visiting with neighbors in need over the phone and in their homes, listening to their stories, delivering food to their homes, and even acquiring work boots and other job essentials so they could remain employed.  He would also take out the garbage when necessary and was well known for showing up every day with his two cups of coffee in hand.  In his life Randy Fairbanks always advocated for his belief that we are all God’s Children and he treated everyone with the respect and care that they deserved.

You can honor Randy’s memory with a donation to our Vincentian Legacy Campaign.
