We’re glad you’re interested in joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Our Conference at St. John the Evangelist is part of a world-wide Society of St. Vincent de Paul. You can learn more about SVDP in this Introduction to the Society on our National website. Locally, our Conference at St. John the Evangelist is part of a group of around 100 Conferences in Western Washington.
SVDP is, above all, a person-to-person ministry. Our Conference provides a variety of services to those in need. Our Annual Report provides a summary of what we did in the last calendar year. Most of our work involves meeting with and helping people who are struggling.
If you’d like to help in this person-to-person ministry, you are welcome to join us for a meeting (1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 1pm in the Fireside Room) or talk to one of our members.

If you choose to join us:
To ensure a safe environment for the people we help and ourselves, all our volunteers must register in our membership system and review a couple of documents. For most positions, there is some training (similar to what is required at the parish) and a background check will be required. Here’s our Conference Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
